Replacing a pinch runner and late-inning defensive replacement with what they hope will be a productive bat off their bench, the Dodgers recalled rookie third baseman and feel-good story Blake DeWitt from Class AAA Las Vegas on Wednesday. To clear a roster spot, light-hitting utility infielder Pablo Ozuna was designated for assignment.
DeWitt went from minor league spring training to the Opening Day roster and spent most of the season as the Dodgers' primary third baseman before the club acquired Casey Blake from Cleveland on July 26, sending the slumping DeWitt to the minors to make room.
