While the Red Sox weren't able to swing a deal earlier this month when San Diego Padres outfielder Brian Giles blocked a waiver trade to Boston, general manager Theo Epstein finally nabbed his man.
The Sox shipped a low level minor league outfielder to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for outfielder Mark Kotsay, who played with both the San Diego Padres when Epstein was affiliated with them and with the John Henry-owned Florida Marlins.
"It's very invigorating, no question," Kotsay said of the trade to the Sox. "Unfortunately in Atlanta, things didn't go as well as we would have liked it to.
